Hillard Heintze provided the following update regarding demonstration activities in Chicago that they gained from public social media sources and was not independently verified.
5/15 – Immigration Day of Action – A plan to march from Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission at 3442 W. 26th St. to the Immigration Court Building at 525 W. Van Buren was identified. The march is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and the rally at 11 a.m.
5/18 – National Nurses United Robin Hood Tax March. March – Starts at Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 E North Water St. or at the Petrillo Music Shell, 300 E. Monroe St.; 11 a.m. Rally – Daley Plaza, 50 W Washington St; 12:15 p.m. UPDATE – There will not be a coordinated march from the Sheraton Hotel to Daley Plaza, but congestion should be anticipated between the two locations. According to the Staff Nurse Assembly Schedule on the National Nurses United website the nurses attending the assembly will be departing the Sheraton Hotel at 301 East North Water St. around 11 a.m. to attend the Rally at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington.
5/18 – “Crime Busting March on Chicago’s Climate Crooks!” – NATO Environmental Justice Alliance Written. Social media describes this as an impromptu (approx. 1:00 pm) march following Nurses United Rally at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington, to march around the Loop to “issue warrants for arrest of the corporations and government organizations responsible for destabilizing our climate!”
5/19 – Healthcare Day of Action – The Mental Health Movement is organizing an assembly at 10 a.m. at Horner Park, at Irving and California, to march to 4228 N. Hermitage, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s house.
