Below is a summary of what was discussed at yesterday’s BOMA/Chicago Preparedness Committee Meeting on January 21, 2020. The meeting was hosted by 1010 North Wacker. This monthly meeting included a wide range of attendees including members of the Chicago Fire Department, Chicago Police Department, Chicago Police Department – Crime Prevention Information Center, Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies.
Department of Homeland Security
- Consider reviewing network activity over the last twelve months and be on the lookout for cyber threats
- Consider joining the STIC Fusion Center Cyber Group
Chicago Police Department 1st District Update
- The Women’s March had approximately 5,000 attendees
- The Auto Show and NBA All-Star events are the same weekend
- Iran-related protest are anticipated for this Saturday at Trump Tower
Chicago Police Department 12th District Update
- The NBA All-Star Game at the United Center is scheduled for Sunday, February 16th
- Un/official events are scheduled for the entire week prior
- Robberies were down 15% for 2019
Chicago Police Department 18th District Update
- Phone and retail thefts have been an issue
- There were multiple special events last month
- Multiple business alerts have been issued due to recent burglaries and robberies
Chicago Police Department, Crime Prevention Information Center Unit (CPIC)
- Continues pushing out messaging but currently, there are no specific threats
Chicago Fire Department Update
- Three fire safety director classes are taking place this month
- Physical IDs are available at the Fire Academy (1010 S Clinton)
- There was a reminder for building staff to meet arriving responders
Office of Emergency Management & Communications
- The OEMC has received lots of calls from the public about concerns from employees
- NBA events citywide are scheduled
- St. Patrick’s Day planning is underway
- There has been damage to the lakefront recently due to waves and poor weather conditions
