“Global day of action to stand up against McDonalds”
Overview:
On Thursday, April 14th a march and protest will take place for a “Global day of action to stand up against McDonalds”. The protest is in unison with other protests taking place throughout the country for the “fight for 15” movement to raise minimum wage to $15.00 an hour. The protest will join a record “300 cities and tens of thousands of underpaid workers and 40 countries on 6 continents” (source: http://fightfor15.org/april- 14-our-biggest-ever-global- strikes-and-protests/).
There are currently 3 protests and a march scheduled in the Central Business District with the first protest starting at 4:00pm at 800 N. Michigan.
Schedule for Global Day of Action: Thursday, 14th April 2016
The group will protest and march in a “global day of action to stand up against McDonalds.”
- 4:00 pm – 800 N. Michigan, Ken Griffin’s Penthouse
- 4:45 pm – 515 N. LaSalle, Bank of America
- 5:00 pm – 600 N. Clark, Rock N’ Roll McDonalds
Anticipated March Route
CPD also anticipates a protest to involve a march between 3:30 and 6:30 pm. The group “Fight for Fifteen” will be marching and may have other groups marching with them along the route. The proposed route is as follows:
* South on Michigan from Chicago to Huron
* West on Huron to Clark
* South on Clark to Grand
* West on Grand to LaSalle
* North on LaSalle to Ohio
* Ohio to Clark.
* Rally on Clark between Ontario and Ohio.
Be aware, this march may have an impact with traffic congestion and other demonstration related issues during that time.
