We have received information indicating multiple public gatherings and protests scheduled from Monday, June 8th through Sunday, June 14th. Tentative info for the public gatherings and protest activity is listed below:
- Monday, June 8th 2020, 12:00 – 1:00 pm, Press Conference & Rally, Dirksen Federal Building – 219 S. Dearborn Street. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Press Conference and Front Line Worker Speak Out.”
- Monday, June 8th 2020, 1:30 pm, Rally, March, & Caravan, 2700 S. California Avenue to 010th District Police Station – 3315 W. Ogden Avenue. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Public Defenders March for Black Lives.” The group will step-off at 2:00 pm and march around the perimeter of CCDOC, followed by a car caravan to the 010th District Station for a continued rally outside of the Station.
- Monday, June 8th 2020, 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Protest, Spyners Pub – 4623 N. Western Avenue. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Boycott for Justice Protest.”
- Monday, June 8th 2020, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Rally & March, Willye White Park – 1610 W. Howard Street to Warren Park – 6601 N Western. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “In remembrance of George Floyd and many other African Americans.”
- Tuesday, June 9th 2020, 12:30 – 4:00 pm, Assembly, 125 W. 87th Street and 87th Street & Dan Ryan Bridge. The group will assemble in the regarding their campaign “Blackout Townhall Meeting.” The group will then assemble at 1:50 pm on the bridge at 87th & Dan Ryan.
- Thursday, June 11th 2020, 10:00 am – 8:00 pm, Occupation, 6300 S. Blackstone Avenue. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Lightfoot’s Tent City with @ObamaCBA.“
- Thursday, June 11th 2020, 12:00 – 1:30 pm, Rally, Unk Location Westside Chicago. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “No Longer Left Behind.”
- Thursday, June 11th 2020, 1:00 pm, Press Conference & March, Horner Park @ 2741 W. Montrose Avenue to 017th District Police Station – 4650 N. Pulaski Road. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Peaceful Youth-Led Press Conference / March @ Albany Park.”
- Friday, June 12th 2020, 1:00 pm, Protest & March, Eckhart Park – 1330W. Chicago Avenue. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “The March for America’s Future.”
- Friday, June 12th 2020, 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Caravan, Dunbar Park @ 29th Street & Indiana Avenue. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Hospitality Worker Car Caravan for Black Lives.”
- Friday, June 12th 2020, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Rally & March, 019th District Police Station – 850 W. Addison Street to 44th Ward Office – 3223 N. Sheffield Avenue. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “End Lakeview Racism: Demand Tom Tunney Support CPAC.”
- Saturday, June 13th 2020, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Protest, Mandrake Park – 3858 S. Cottage Grove Avenue. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Kids Non-Violent Protest Against Racism.”
- Sunday, June 14th 2020, 12:00 – 3:00 pm, Protest & March, Throop Street & Congress Parkway. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Justice in June: Black and Brown Youth Led Unity March.”
- Sunday, June 14th 2020, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Protest & March, 3200-3800 N. Halsted Street. The group will assemble regarding their campaign “Drag March for Change.”
Safety Tips:
- If you see something suspicious, report it
- Carry water and stay hydrated
- Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
- Utilize the buddy system
- Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
- Leave any valuables at home
- Do not jump any barricades
- Secure handbags and wallets
- Stay calm and pleasant
- Follow your own instincts
- Leave yourself room to move quickly
- If you see an unattended bag, alert police as quickly as possible
