Hillard Heintze provided the following update regarding demonstration activities in Chicago that they gained from public social media sources and was not independently verified.
5/17 – Direct Action Training – 10:00 a.m., 850 W. Jackson – Group training in non-violent direct action protesting.
5/17 – Protestors are meeting at the Obama Campaign Headquarters at Prudential – Noon. They will march to Canadian, U.S. and German Consulates.
5/17 – “Day of Environmental Action: Planet over Profits and War!” (Rally and Ride) – 2:00 p.m. Protesters are meeting at LaSalle and Jackson. The group will be biking over to rally outside the Canadian Consulate at Prudential Plaza, 180 N. Stetson. They will hold a press conference at 4:00 p.m.
5/17 – “Female General Assembly Meeting” – 5:00 p.m., South Michigan and Monroe, to the left of the Sculpture Garden.
5/17 – “NATO Reps, Protesters to Debate” (Public Forum) – 6:00 p.m. This debate will take place at the Pritzker Military Library, 104 S. Michigan Avenue.
5/17 – “Sounds of a New Hope Screening & Community Meeting” – 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Film screening followed by a discussion will take place at the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center, 2701 W. Peterson Ave.
5/17 – “Clown Bloq Training” – 6:00 p.m. – Wellington Church, 615 W. Wellington Ave.
5/17 “NATO Action Spokes Council” – 7:00 p.m. – Discuss plans to shut down the Boeing Corporation on Monday.
5/17 – “Intro: Street Medic Basics” training – 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., 615 W. Wellington Ave.
5/17 ”Know Your Rights Training for (NATO) Protesters” – 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church, 637 S. Dearborn St. An open meeting where protesters will learn basic legal information about interaction with the Chicago Police Department.
5/17 – “Occupy the Southside General Assembly” – 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Unitarian Church, 5650 S. Woodlawn.
5/18 – 5/19 – The Marriage and Civil Union Court, 119 W. Randolph, will close at 5:00 p.m. instead of 9:00 p.m. and will be closed Saturday.
5/18 & 5/21 – Two Illinois Secretary of State locations in the Loop, 69 W. Washington and 17 N. State, will be closed Friday and Monday.
5/18 – “The People’s Assembly: Occupy Movement Building Discussion.” An open meeting is planned for members of the movement to discuss the past present and future of Occupy. Meeting takes place at 4:00 p.m. at Congress and Michigan by the “Bowman Statue,” but will move to Butler Field if it becomes necessary.
