The following information is from the City of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communication (OEMC).
OEMC is anticipating a protest and march on May 1, 2013. It will likely begin in Union Park and then proceed to Federal Plaza in the CBD. The groups are generally seeking an increase in the minimum wage and reformed immigration laws, and will “step off” from the park sometime between 2:00 and 4:00pm. They do not anticipate a large crowd, but it could reach 2000 individuals.
In addition, there has been some “Internet chatter” about two specific protest sites: NBC Tower at Cityfront Center during the morning, and Goldman Sachs (440 South LaSalle office) at an unspecified time. Both the CPD fusion center (CPIC) and the OEMC Operations Center will be closely monitoring these events.
