Currently in the State of Illinois all parties must give consent before a conversation is taped, including conversations with police. This law could be challenged during the NATO/G-8 Summits.
The Illinois State Government is in the process of reviewing the current law. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has requested the law be reviewed after it was declared unconstitutional by a Crawford County judge. Also, Rep. Elaine Nekritz is sponsoring a bill to allow for exceptions.
