With the start of the new year residents of Illinois can now officially apply for Concealed Carry permits. The process started Sunday, January 5, 2014.
Illinois State Police will have 90 days to approve or deny an applicant as long as the application is complete and fingerprints are submitted electronically. If the applicant does not submit fingerprints along with the application the Illinois State Police will have an additional 30 days to review the application.
As of Tuesday, January 8th, more than 13,000 applications had been approved and 105 applications had been rejected according to the Chicago Tribune. The Illinois State Police has 120 days from the time they receive the application to issue the licenses for the approved applications.

Paper applications will be available beginning July 1, 2014.
