Below is updated information we have received for upcoming public gatherings and protests scheduled for Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th.
Friday Main Demonstration: Juneteenth March in Grant Park
Overview:
Per the Chicago Police Department and open sources, on Friday, June 19th at 12:00 pm, Pastor Harris is holding an assembly/march on Columbus from Roosevelt into Butler Field. 10,000 or more total attendees are expected. The assembly/march will conclude with a brief speech in Butler Field in Grant Park.
Street Closures:
All streets within Grant Park will be closed by 9:00 am.
- Salt Trucks will be utilized for street closures from Roosevelt to Monroe, Michigan to LSD
- Monroe will remain open in both directions
- Protective Jersey Walls will be placed around Butler Field.

Car Parade: The groups will assemble regarding their campaign “Juneteenth Car Parade.”
Location: Multiple Meeting Points: Eastside – 75th Street & Stony Island Avenue; Southside – 87th Street & Dan Ryan; Westside – Hamlin Avenue & Madison Street; Northside – North Avenue & Halsted Street. Meeting point is believed to be 25th Street and Martin Luther King Jr Drive.

Protest & March, Union Park: The group will assemble at 11:00 am regarding their campaign “Defend Black Lives Event: Juneteenth Downtown March.” The group will step-off at 11:45 am.

- Do not jump any barricades
- Secure handbags and wallets
- Stay calm and pleasant
- Follow your own instincts
- Leave yourself room to move quickly
- If you see an unattended bag, alert police as quickly as possible
