On Wednesday, May 15, Titan Security attended the BOMA/Chicago Foundation Diversity Committee panel, which highlighted the importance of a diverse workforce and the successes, opportunities and challenges that commercial real estate companies face when it comes to diversity and inclusion. The panelists showcased ways to incorporate these values into sourcing and recruiting, on-boarding, development, retention and advancement of staff.
An assorted group of panelists participated in the event including:
- Stephen Cornejo Garcia, Director of Inclusive Diversity at Allstate
- Melissa Donaldson, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at Wintrust Financial Corporation
- Angela Pratt Geffre, Head of Talent at JLL
- Bobby Griffin, Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion at CBRE
The panel stressed many ideas that could be executed on all levels of an organization. For example, courage and curiosity is encouraged to help people feel included and have a sense of belonging in a company. Additionally, recruiting is not just for recruiters; it is a joint effort. Hiring managers generally know jobs thoroughly enough to improve success in the process.
A question and answer session was also held, which gave the audience an opportunity to further explore the day’s topics.
